Machi Fukuda “Essence/Scenery”

The Third Gallery Aya

This event has ended.

Machi Fukuda’s works up through now have altered perceptions of time and space, like severing and then reattaching single tree branches. Her works include photography, sculpture, film, and other footage evoking the density of time by compiling multiple photographs. This exhibition presents video in which objects seen through the camera’s viewfinder momentarily disappear in strong light like a flash before slowly re-emerging. The shining of the light calls fragmented memories and dreams to mind, while simultaneously reminding us that what is before our eyes cannot be seen without light.
