The reasons for climbing mountains are as many as the people who climb them. For the artist himself he climbs mountains seeking the space of floating distance. In a world overflowing with information and objects the rock and clouds and snow of the mountains has a simplicity which moves the imagination. Saito begins by walking through the dense forest, which begins to change as the route progresses, covered by a vision of cloud and mist, which then opens out upon a world of craggy rock, with uncanny forms of stone and cloud emerging together, following one upon another in a long dream of another land.
