The three winners of Gallery PARC Art Competition 2016 were selected from 56 submitted plans. The first exhibit features the works of Hiroyasu Yukawa and Keiichi Nakayasu, who explore traces of human history and culture from the past through the present in sculptural form and spatial arrangements that draw in the viewer. Here they present a castle map and family lineage for the fictional castle lord Hashihara, described by the modern Japanese classics scholar Motoori Norinaga. A common theme in subjects and styles of the two artist’s work is the impulse to represent the fertility of the earth.
