Tetsuro Shimizu “Ninja - Mongolia’s Gold Miners”
Olympus Gallery Osaka
This event has ended.
In Mongolia exist gold miners called “Ninja” who are largely made up of nomadic herders that gather in places where a large piece of gold is rumoured to have been found, and move on when police attention becomes too intense. 24 years since Mongolia’s transition to democracy in 1992, there has been a steep rise in commodity prices and a subsequent disparity of wealth.
On display are photographs by Tetsuro Shimizu that document the shadowy movements of these ninja miners on the grasslands of Mongolia.
