This event has ended.

Photography by the artist Hisayo Yamamoto, whose photographic works such as “Eiga he no Henai” (An Obsessive Love of Movies), “Yujo no Zangyakusei” (The Cruelty of Friendship), and “Ohimesama Henshin Ganbo” (The Princess’s Wish for Transformation) delve into her interests, internal struggles, and fantasies. This show presents works from Yamamoto’s “Dogu no Watashi” (I am Made of Clay), “Kakera” (Fragments), and “Jomon” (Jomon) series taking her own body and nudes as their subjects. These bold self-portraits combine imagery of the half-human, half-god prehistoric clay figurines known as “dogu” with her own feminine body, drawing on ancient forms while evoking the inescapable pain of being a woman and an artist in contemporary society. Her primal, powerful photographs are honest explorations of physical and internal aspects of herself.
