Photography by Go Goto of Awaji Ningyo Joruri (Awaji Doll Theater), a nationally designated significant intangible folk cultural asset with 500 years of tradition in Awaji Island, Hyogo Prefecture. Goto was swept up by the unique passion of the theater when he first visited in 2007. These images of the theater and its public performances are filled with the moving power of the traditional arts.
