Artist’s statement: seven years have passed since I first came to Kyoto, during which I have encountered many scenes of the “in-between,” both usual and unusual. These moments of “makai” (“encountering the in-between”) are gathered in this exhibition, which considers the “Circle of Life” from the standpoint of makai.
