The World of Sculptured Inlay
Kiyomizu Sannenzaka Museum
This event has ended.
Chogan sculptured inlaying is a decorative technique applying shells, ivory, tortoise, metal, and other materials carved to fit patterns in wood or ivory bases. This unique Japanese pictoral art has many parallels with Nihonga painting. The Kiyomizu Sannenzaka Museum presents outstanding Meiji and Taisho-era chogan displayed at the World Fair, as well as other exquisite pieces created for Japanese aesthetes.
