Japan is full of roads, dams, bridges, tunnels, retaining walls, levees, and excavation sites that for various reasons have gone uncompleted or are no longer in use. The “Structural Heritage” lab, part of the Kyoto Institute of Technology’s Architectural Planning Seminar, searches out these sites and uses architectural skills to contemplate new futures for those that can be neither completed nor scrapped.
