Latest technologies including digital fabrication, augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR) and remote sensing are featuring more and more in our daily lives. Since the 60s there have been growing examples of media arts that fuse science and technology with self-expression, and the media arts environment has been largely influenced by the development of data processing and the internet.
Korea in particular is credited for quality artists such as pioneer of video art, Korean American artist Nam June Paik. ‘Japan-Korea Media Art Meeting 2017’ international conference introduces two artists from Seoul, Korea - Hyojung SEO and Hoonida Kim, in a kickoff meeting aimed to drive potential collaborations and information exchange with like-minded Kansai-based artists and researchers.
