The exhibition will trace the half-century journey of documentary photographer Seiichi Motohashi, featuring more than 200 of his images. The selection will include previously unreleased early photographs and a range of his representative works, including images of coalmines, popular entertainment, the circus, a slaughterhouse, and a train station, all portraying the rich diversity of human endeavor that forms the foundation of society. Motohashi has also published three books and directed two documentaries that focus on people who continue to live in the vicinity of the Chernobyl power plant after the nuclear accident. His message as an artist has become even more powerful since the March 11th disasters in Japan.
