Every autumn, Paris stages Nuit Blanche (“White Night”), a one-night festival celebrating contemporary art. Kyoto, a sister city of Paris, holds the companion event “Nuit Blanche Kyoto” in various locations around the city. Kyoto’s night is lighted up by a varied program including free dance and circus performances, exhibitions, and outdoor projection mapping. The theme for the seventh edition of the festival is “Landscape, the city in movement” and presents a selection of new trends and experimentations.


18:00–18:30  Opening Act: Musical Performance by Juki on Tsugaru Shamisen

18:30–18:50  Opening Ceremony
Greetings from Kyoto Mayor Daisaku Kadokawa, Consulate General of France in Kyoto Jean-Matthieu Bonnel, and the Director of Institut français du Japon - Kansai / Kyoto.

19:00–19:20  Solo Musical Performance by Michel Deneuve on the Cristal Baschet
«Sound sculpture», among those works is an instrument called the Cristal Baschet which will be used in a performance of a work by the well-known composer Michel Deneuve who has come all the way from France!

19:25–19:45  Projection Mapping
As part of Machi Deco International’s project to decorate the cityscape in images, Tsukune Harumaki presents new works taken on the walls of the Kyoto International Manga Museum.

19:50–20:10  Musical Performance by Makoto
MAKOTO is a jazz singer, and was previously a geisha in Gion Kobu.

20:15–20:40  Projection Mapping
Special encore presentation.

20:45–21:05  Musical Performance: Cristal Baschet & Shakuhachi; Cristal Baschet & Vocals (Vocal Performance)
The world’s first performance of the Cristal Baschet (Michel Deneuve) together with the sound of the Shakuhachi (Takeo Izumi) ; Cristal Baschet and vocals (Chie Kitamura).

21:10–21:40  Projection Mapping
Special encore presentation.
