London in the late 19th Century saw artists and design studios greatly inspired by the Japanese arts. In the 1880s and 90s, Silver Studio was one of these, using Japanese designs in an experimental fashion, in particular the Japanese stencils known as ‘katagami’. On display are intricate textile works produced by the designers at Silver Studio, and the stencils used to create these exotic designs.
