"Gaikotsu: The Uncommon Journalist" Exhibition

In January 1901, the first issue of the satiric magazine "Kokkei Shimbun" (ridiculous newspaper) was sensationally published in Osaka. Its editorial policy was "neither yield to power nor to be disturbed with wealth, extortion or bluff". The publisher, Gaikotsu Miyatake, who was full of satirical ideas, tracked up a period of media establishment as a journalist.
Following the previous satire exhibitions "Humorous Kichosai", and "Nishiki-e Newspaper in Meiji Osaka" at Itami City Museum of Art, this exhibition features unique published materials by Miyatake who was a strong influence in the publishing world.
