This event has ended.

Member of the Gutai group from its first exhibition in 1965 to its disbandment in 1972 Sadaharu Horio(b.1939) is an artist who has continued to challenge the fundamentals of art throughout his career and has exhibited and performed at a furious pace. Since 1985 he began to take up the motif of air, an invisible presence and a representation of the common things around us and experimented in ways to visualize this existence. In “Painting Ritual” he has continued everyday to take up the action of painting, coating everyday objects in a single color in a form of ceremony. While works such as ”Connecting Squares” seek out the squares and rectangles in everyday life, and “Simultaneous Space” enacts linked motions in different locations in a combining of time and space, Horio has continued to investigate the immediacy of the commonplace, ordinary things which fill our lives and here in this exhibition opens up a resonance between object and action which draws upon each of our 5 senses.
