This event has ended.

Certainly, the sky and sea are blue, but they are not only just blue, there are different words to describe what is called a hue of bluishness in Japanese. Maki Kaoru’s world of blue is made of layers of profound Icelandic blue, landscapes consisting of natural phenomenon reflecting the otherworldly light. Maki prints of a moment of nature with her eye (camera) and on her mind, and it is represented in a different medium. Yumiko Furukawa created ceramic pieces when she visited New York this summer, two years after she returned to Tokyo. Furukawa depicts poetic words with blue chalk. These words are gradually erased by the viewer while walking around the space eventually leaving only traces of the text. Furukawa’s work expresses how time passes by with this visual transformation of past to present to future.
Ozasahayashi-project is a unique space in a renovated Kyoto-style old townhouse, differing from the gallery space at Ozasahayashi_kyoto. Creating site-specific installations, each visual artist has the challenge of exploring new ways and new thoughts in this representation of their work.
