This event has ended.

This exhibition addresses the drastic change in the circumstances surrounding Asian women artists in recent years, that has come about through rapid development and heightened consciousness of gender issues in Asia. In the first extensive exhibition of its kind in Japan, some 130 works produced from the 1980s to the present by 48 women artists, including those who were born and have been active in Asia or are currently based abroad, will be on display. The works are based on the artists’ experiences of social gender roles and issues affecting women in daily life, of their concerns with history, war, and ethnicity, and of current new trends.
