This event has ended.
In commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the death of Nakamura Ganjiro I (1860–1935), this exhibition will focus on the performances and personality of Ganjiro – a kabuki actor who was extremely popular from the early Meiji period to the early Showa period as a master of wagoto (gentle-style) acting – while also looking back on the prosperity of Kamigata (Osaka and Kyoto) kabuki, the atmosphere of the Dotonbori area where Ganjiro was based, and the societal situation of Osaka at that time.
