Enokojima Art Days is a new art project taking a fresh look at daily life with exhibitions centered around apartment buildings, a common dwelling for Japanese people. The 2017 event subtitled “Other Means” features ten young artists’ paintings, sculptures, photography, and other works created with unique approaches to existing media. These works are not “alternative” in the sense of rejecting existing practices, but instead affirm these means while adapting others approaches to bring out about new forms of art in Japan.
